NetGram Frequently Asked Questions and Troubleshooting Tips
It didn't work -- what's up?
The number one reason why the system doesn't "work" is because your e-mail address is not properly registered in your user profile.
If you have registered, and sent a message in to the E-mail Bridge, and you did not get a reply, you probably do not have your e-mail address registered in your user profile. We must know about the e-mail address from which you are sending your letter mail so that we can properly mail your message.
You can visit the Profile page to add additional e-mail addresses that should be allowed to send letter mail under your account. Many people have several e-mail addresses, and each one that you might use to send NetGram letters should be registered.
If you are certain your e-mail address is listed in your
profile, and you don't receive a reply, and you do not see any letters
listed in your Activity
page, then you can e-mail email@example.com,
and we will try to help diagnose the problem.
What do I do first?
If you are just starting out, you should register, then add some postal mail contacts to your Address Book. You can then send e-mail to the addresses in your Address Book, and we will turn the e-mail messages into postal mail.
Once you have done this, you are on your way to experiencing the world's fastest way to send postal mail!
How do I know the system is working?
You can visit the Message Job Activity page (after you register) to see the status of the documents you send. You can expect your messages to post to the system within about a minute, depending on Internet traffic. The Status column on that page will tell you what is happening with your message job.

Message Job in case you send more than 1 NetGram at a time.
The NetGram system consists of a database of user-supplied postal recipients, and a specialized e-mail server that allows you to designate those recipients by e-mail. When our system receives an e-mail message to the netgram.com domain, we do the following:
How do I add postal recipients into my NetGram Address Book?
You can add recipients by going to the address book page (after you have registered), and choosing "add contact". It should be noted that we NEVER release these postal addresses to any third party.
What if someone already has an e-mail address "firstname.lastname@example.org". Can I use it to send letters to my mother?
Yes you can! The system differentiates between duplicate e-mail addresses by keying off of the sender e-mail address in the database. This makes it very convenient for anyone to name hardcopy recipients with names that make sense.
In fact, the e-mail address "email@example.com" is probably a hyperlink in this HTML document, so if you wanted to send a nice postal telegram to your mom, you could click it, and type a little note to her. Then wait for a response from the NetGram system, and reply to the links, and we will ship the letter out by U.S. Post.
How often do you prepare and deliver postal mail?
Our goal is to process, print and mail documents by the 3rd business day following receipt (excluding holidays).
Guaranteed turnaround times are available to contracted large volume mailers.
Are there any e-mail addresses I can't use in my personal Address Book?
You can't use some of the typical e-mail addresses that you would find at a normal Internet domain. They are: firstname.lastname@example.org, email@example.com, firstname.lastname@example.org, email@example.com, and firstname.lastname@example.org. Also, any e-mail addresses that begin with "$" are reserved.
What types of documents can I send? Do you support attachments?
The E-mail Bridge can currently be used to send your text messages, PDF and Word attachments. We take the text of your message, and place it in a template that looks like this. If you include a PDF or Word attachment, it will be printed and mailed along with the letter using our automated print stream control programs.
If you wish to send pictures in your letters, we recommend that you embed them in a Word document.
If you send an attachment, the text you type in the body of your e-mail
program will be placed on cover pages, and the attachment will be printed
on plain paper after the cover pages.
What if I don't get a reply from the system after sending a message?
Ordinarily you should expect to receive a response to your print request within 1 minute of sending it. If you don't get an e-mail reply from the system, it could be:
What if I have more than 1 e-mail addresses that I use?
You may list additional e-mail addresses from which you plan to use the system. This is convenient for people who have an e-mail address at home, and one at work, or for those who use e-mail forwarders like Hotmail etc. You add additional e-mail addresses from the "Account Info" page.
